Mommy Go Green Blog Tour: EcoBrain Review

There’s a definite hunger today for information about going green, and fortunately there are some brilliant writers who are excited to share their knowledge with the rest of us. However publishing a book about being eco-friendly can pose two big issues:
1) The cost of publishing, which can be staggering for these indepedent authors, and 2) The process of publishing itself isn’t exactly eco-friendly. After all, books require lots of paper, packaging, the environmental cost of shipping the item to readers or bookstores…some think actually making the book could do more harm than the information in it.
The forward-thinking team at EcoBrain had these issues in mind when they created their online e-bookstore, filled with digital books full of green info from cooking to building to Kids and even fiction. In addition to saving cost for the author, EcoBrain offers savings to the reader, with the e-books discounted anywhere from a few dollars to half the price of the traditional versions.
I tried EcoBrain’s free product (one is always offered on their home page- go check it out!), which happened to be Confessions of a Country Architect by Don Metz. The download is quick and easy, and I was off and reading withing minutes. The print is easy to read, and Adobe Reader gives you lots of options for page size. I’m still not sure that I love the idea of reading off my computer screen- not exactly something you can snuggle up with in bed. And printing the pages out sort of defeats the purpose. But I could definitely see the benefit of having a downloaded book stored on the computer at work- a reading break in between paperwork could be a great break!
Here’s my “To Read” list of books offered by EcoBrain:
